Tuesday, November 3, 2015 8:00:00 AM PST - 11:00:00 AM PST

Overview:

"Applying a Lab Safety Culture to Nanotechnology: Educating the next generation of nanoscientists" is the first event of the NNCO's NanoEHS Webinar Series. The webinar aims to describe strategies for safe development and use of nanotechnology along the life cycle of nanomaterials and nano-enabled products. This first webinar will discuss how an effective culture of safety in the research laboratory facilitates safe and responsible nanomaterial research and meets the national objective of responsible development.

Goals:

These are some of the goals of the NanoEHS webinar series:

  • Develop the rationale for safe and responsible nanotechnology
  • Build awareness of existing information resources
  • Facilitate safe nanotechnology  practices within the overall lab safety culture
  • Engage industry in the discussion: share practices and expectations
  • Ensure safety training in academia is viewed as an important job skill

Audience:

This webinar is intended to serve a large and varied audience:

  • Academic research administrators
  • Laboratory PI’s and laboratory managers
  • Students (graduate, undergraduate, and postdoctoral)
  • Health and Safety professionals
  • Private sector research business and research leaders

Q&A:

Questions from the audience will submitted through the webinar interface. During the question-and-answer segments of the webinars, submitted questions will be considered in the order received and may be posted on the NNI Web site (http://www.nano.gov). A moderator will identify relevant questions and pose them to the speaker(s). Due to time constraints, not all questions may be addressed during the webinars.
