Keeping Kids Safe: Standout Statewide and National Initiatives Monday 2 November 2020, 07:00 PM UTC - 09:00 PM UTC
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, nationwide, there has been a sharp decline in reports of child abuse and neglect. Research shows that child abuse typically occurs within the family or at the hands of a child’s caregiver. This webinar will highlight two statewide and three national initiatives that were created to empower the community at large to prevent, recognize, and report child abuse. Missouri KidsFirst’s #Essential4Kids; Children’s Advocacy Centers of Arkansas’ campaign to report child abuse 1-844.SAVE.A.CHILD; Zero Abuse Project’s Mitigating the Impact of COVID-19 series; Darkness to Light’s Protecting Children During a Crisis training are available at no cost to the public and have been designed to raise awareness of the concerns of an increase in child abuse and neglect during the pandemic and a reduction in reporting; and National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's NetSmartz® online safety program for children and families grades K-12. A panel discussion with experts from each program will highlight their initiatives to prevent child abuse and promote the reporting of suspected child abuse and neglect.
