Tuesday, August 1, 2017 7:15:00 AM PDT - Wednesday, August 1, 2018 8:15:00 AM PDT
We are currently piloting this training with health-care providers. At the end of the training, please complete the evaluation as this information will help us in developing a Baby Behavior training more specific to your field. Keep in mind as you take the training that the intended audience is WIC staff, but anyone who interacts with new parents will gain knowledge in baby behavior.

Baby behavior training is divided into 4 parts:
• Part 1: Infant States and Cues
• Part 2: Crying
• Part 3: Sleep
• Part 4: Baby Behavior and WIC

The following topics will be covered throughout the series:
• How babies use cues to communicate with caregivers.
• Why babies cry and steps to calm a crying baby.
• Normal infant sleep states, cycles, and patterns.
• How a parent’s response to stress can influence feeding decisions.
• Reasons for early weaning and supplementation.
• Common misconceptions about newborn behavior.
• How staff can use baby behavior messages and promote positive interactions when working with caregivers.
• How to help parents recognize normal infant behavior and respond to their baby.

No continuing education is provided for this training
